Tufo Tape install

I know this topic has been beat to death hear but I cannot get the video to play on the tufo website. How do you install the regular tape? First time on tubulars and would like to get it right…

Easy:

  1. Start at the valve hole, about .5" from the hole

  2. stretch the tape as you go, this allows the tape to seat into the curve of the rim

  3. Stop about .5" from the hole again.

  4. Be sure the tape is not upside down. I always forget which way ot goes. The package shows the correct way.

  5. Soak your tire (valve closed) in water before you put it on, this allows you to center the tire after its on the rim.

  6. Blow it up…ride around the block (this activates the tape)

  7. Done!!

I also liked to leave a 3-4" gap in the tape on the rim opposite the valve hole. That’ll give you a starting point for the epic wrestling match that will ensue when you eventually try to remove the tire. Otherwise, you’ll need a leatherman or a bouie knife…or both.
