Do I understand correctly that TUFO tires have a sealant inside that will plug most punctures within a few seconds making flats extremely unlikely?
This is what I’m referencing:
http://www.tufo.com/index.php?lg=en&mn=7&co=prislus TUFO TIRE SEALANT
A highly effective product for repair of flats of all TUFO tires. It can be used after getting a flat, when it seals instantly punctures up to 2 mm in diameter. It can also be used preventively when applied to the inside of the tire before use. When a flat occurs the sealant seals the puncture, most often without any air loss, so the rider does not even detect getting a flat. It increases safety considerably, since fast loss of air does not occur and, consequently, riders stability is not diminished. Application through the valve opening.
Thoughts??
They don’t have them in them, but the product is available, i.e., you can buy a tube of the stuff and put it in yourself. Otherwise, they’re just like any other tubular.
They are not quite like any other tubular. Most of them are a bit lighter but less compliant since the inner tube is integrated into the tire walls.
they aren’t tubular, they are tubefree…
Joe Bonness uses the stuff so it must work.
