Okay, so I was just trying to glue on my very first set of tubs. I had everything done, and I was putting the tire on. But of course, when putting it on, I didn’t stretch it around the rim enough (but I had prestretched the tire). So I had to pull it off and start again, stretching on both sides of the valve. This time I got it on, but the tire was WAY off center, but it was stuck on, and I couldn’t get it straight. So off came the tire again.
Now the nice glue on both the tire and the wheel is all potched. So my question is this: Do I need to add more glue, or can I try again now with the current glue job?
The lame thing about this screw up is, if I don’t do it right, I crash, and I don’t like to crash.
You can probably keep going without adding glue; I’m assuming 90% of the glue you had before is still there, while the other 10% is now on your rim, casing, hands, pants, shirt, and the floor. It shouldn’t be too hard to center the tire after you get it on there, pull it up off the rim and then move it. It takes more than a day for that glue to set up strong, and even then you can put a pre-glued tire on and it will stick on pretty tight after a day or so. Wait a day and test the tire, it should be dam hard, but not quite impossible, to get the tire off with your hands. If not, add another coat to the rim and try again. If you screw it up you probably won’t crash, your wheel just won’t be round and your tire will be all ugly with glue all over it.
