Tubular .vs. Clinchers

What are some of the pros and cons of Tubular versus Clinchers? I’m looking at the Tubular tires and all the gluing processes and I’m wondering if all of the gluing is worth it. Is a tubular much lighter than a clincher (with tube) and that makes it all worth while for the speed?

Tastes Great - Less filling! This is one of the more debated topics of all time. I prefer tubies, but I probably think clinchers have caught up and if starting over that’s the way I would go.

Thanks Chris. Some good reading there. Looks like I will be training on clinchers and race on tubulars.

I’ve wondered this before, and figure now is a good time to ask:

How is weight an advantage for a tubular if one has to carry an entire spare tire in a race (which weighs far more than a spare clincher tube)?

If I were a pro racer (rather than a middle-aged FMOP guy) and had a trailing team vehicle with spare wheels for me at a moment’s notice, I’d run tubulars without question.
