I have set of Zipp 808 tubular wheels that have brand new Vittoria Corsa Evo-Cx tires. I was wondering how long they should hold pressure? The shop that glued the tires said they pumped them to 140psi a few days ago. When I picked them up they probably had 60-80psi in them. Is this a normal amount of pressure to lose over 3 days? Both tires lost the same amount of pressure.

Thanks in advance,

First, your nice new tires have latex tubes sewn up inside them. The permeability of air through latex is much higher than with butyl. This is normal. It just means you should check your pressures before each ride with them.
Second, unless you’re going to be riding on a perfectly smooth surface, there’s no need to pump them up to 140psi. In fact, pumping your tires that hard can end up slowing you down on normal roads.
Because of the deep carbon rim on the 808’s and the vavle extension the internal valve of the tire is unscrewed in order to pump up the tire with the valve extender; therefore the air will leak out pretty consistently.
latex tube in those, they’ll loose 15-20psi per day easily if not more. if you want them to hold pressure longer use Continental tires or the Vittoria Tri specific tubular with a butyl tube in it
