Tubular Base Tape

I have a practically new Conti Sprinter tubular – a portion of the base tape separated from the tire when I removed it from the rim (had been glued with conti glue).

Questions:

  1. What adhesive is recommended to reattach the base tape (I recall reading somewhere that 3M Fasttack is appropriate)?

  2. Any special instructions?

  3. If Fasttack, where do you get it – I struck out at 2 local auto parts stores?

I haven’t had this problem before during 20 years of tubular use. I figure if the base tape isn’t secure, it doesn’t matter how well I glue the tire to the rim.

Don’t use Fastack- it is not for the purpose you intend it for.
