TSR website is going to land a really cool interview

I am going to interview Frank Rehnelt of Renn Multisport fame later this week or early next week. I promise to not take away from building your wheels, but I want your input as to what questions you want me to ask. Go to www.teamsecondhandracing.com and find the story. This is where you can tell me what questions you want asked.

I would like to know if he can get me an “inside” price on some Zipps.

I would almost guarantee that the answer would be a flat “no”. Next question.

Hi Bunny. I think the obvious question relates to availability of a front wheel. And whether he wants me to test any prototypes for him (I won’t even charge him too much) in the near term . Can you sense a theme with this and my post about aero front wheels yesterday?

Everyone wants to know the answer to that magic question. I don’t know that the answer will be any different at the end of this week than it was this time last year.

On the proto testing- I am certain that if you have a pro license, you will be able to test his prototypes without it costing you too much ;^)

I may have a 16 spoke Lew I may part with if all works out well.

Ask him if he’s ever considered building a front wheel that has no spokes, hub, or any matter in the center at all. The fork might attach at the break surface via channels and ball bearings.

I’ve got some real questions:

  1. What’s with the graphics? Renn and Hed seem to be the only to discs still using big block lettering on the side. Is there a chance they will start to look more like Zipp, Xlab, ect… in the near future? or does he have a personal reason for the current logos?

  2. Has he met resistance within the industry do to his low prices and direct to the consumer marketing approach? As opposed to just going through bike shops?

  3. Does he ever see himself branching off into other bicycle parts? Or will he just stick to discs?

  4. Does he have any dreams or expectations for his wheels in the near future?

  5. Is he totally stoked that Ze Gopha is riding a 575?

has he ever thought about integrating a PT into one of his dics? Is it possible? If not, why.

Bunny thanks for the link, also thansk for the link to chuck bikes on the TSR page. Another great resource.
