TSA and sport water bottles

I’m in the US, haven’t flown for many months, am about to get on a plane for a race.

I’d like to bring my running hip belt complete with the 8-oz. Amphipod water bottle attached.

Can I bring the bottle on the plane…

  1. with water in it,
  2. empty,
  3. not at all.

I couldn’t find reference to water bottles on the TSA website; so has that restriction been lifted?

thanks!

I had a Nalgene in my backpack with water in it and the security personnel said I had to empty it before going through security.

That’s all I got.

Yup, it’s OK empty… I just went through the drill w/ my nalgene flask last week.

Bring it through security empty, then you can fill it before you get on the plane.

I carry a bike bottle with me a lot of the time…tired of buying a $4 bottle of water every time I fly.

Don’t forget to empty it. One time I had to chug 32oz right before I got to security. I forgot once and if they catch it they make you empty it outside of security (or throw it out), so I had to exit in my socks (had my wife watch my other stuff) and go back through security again.
