I read an article about the second family yesterday. He moved to escape LGBTQ because Texas was too woke and they wanted to be around a non-woke Christian nation like Russia. The article did state that he is alive, with proof in the form of a video that was created within the last week.
The article stated he (or maybe it was the other family) loaned $50,000 to a Russian āfriendā to start an automobile import business. They received one payment and nothing else. The courts refused to help him.
None that I am aware of, just donāt see those guys/girls to have the courage to take on IDF, like em or hate them, they are surgical on the battlefield and terrorists are generally not the best fighters.

I agree. and there are some on the ground who have and are going through terrible conditions through no making of their own. For them I feel bad, as I do for all in war like that.

A news report in my paper this morning mentioned Trump is leaning, allowing or being positive towards (really is way too hard to pin him down) having Turkey play a role in the roll out of whatever becomes of Gaza. Israel opposes this.
That sounds like him. Last video I saw was a while ago with the wife on Youtube complaining the husband had been sent to the front and hadnāt been heard from in weeks. Maybe people just assumed he was dead.

I believe he is disparaging the quality of the report you mentioned and the paper it was printed in, as well as snarkily implying that it was published so quickly that all the facts may not have been known.
Given how whip saw Trump has been in 2025 I would read any ānews reportā mentioning what Trump is ādoingā or āgoing to doā with a big grain of salt. And if it is more than 2 hours old thereās a high degree of likelyhood that Trump has changed position on it already.

I was recently brought up to speed about an old personal animus that may still describe Bibiās tendencies while in office. Yoni, his older brother, was killed by Palestinians back in 1976 in the Entebbe hostage rescue.
Trump recently met with the once terrorist now state leader of Syria. He also called for the pardoning of Bibi. Iāll just say that it remains difficult to maintain current and I still would not rule out a beachfront Trump Plaza in Gaza.
Now if we are talking meaningful, read in investment worthy, development of Gaza, then an anchored causeway pier could work after a permanent set of harbor sea walls are constructed and some dredging of channels done too. But then the need for a temporary pier would be eliminated by simply building a deep water permanent pier facility to go along with the sea wall.
The Israeli Naval blockade was / is most effective because there is only one port of Gaza and this port serves (until it was destroyed) only small vessels, mostly a fishing fleet.
The 2024 causeway plan was a sound plan to get humanitarian aid into the country. And would have been successful had mother nature complied. I have personal experience transporting and using causeways , and all who have experience know full well the inherent sea state limitation to both operation of said dock and the potential for damage and break up of said dock. Such is the power of mother nature.
The devil is always in the detail. So does the detail of phase 2 to this peace plan allow for the construct of a deep water port facility in Gaza?
Or a commercial airport facility for that matter?

we had to make a tough decision about Japan even before they started coming out of their caves. We made that tough decision and it was the right decision. Civilians (many) were killed in the process but overall fewer died than would have. We made the right choice dealing with those who came out of caves. If they surrendered we made one choice. If they fought we made another.
Same applies here. Personally I think sealing them in would do the least damage to āciviliansā

One might argue they learned a lesson from the beat down received on Afghan pull out and the missing humanitarian element left on the tarmac. Options given by Israel towards humanitarian need were this or nothing. So they took a gamble, tried the one option given them and lost. The risk that weather played as being āignored.ā I disagree. Planning always recognizes weakness and risk assessment. The risk was simply accepted. I suspect one option was that they could have played hard ball with Bibi and backed the UN relief team. They did not have the political balls to do that. If we are grading, the Trump humanitarian assist effort was also not a glowing success.
Re: your assessment of them just wanting āto do something details be damnedā, again, a bit harsh. Doing nothing was their damned alternative with a cost saving. They erred on the side of being a humanitarian.

Sealing in the fighters? Not given a warriorās death but rather a terroristās death? Hopefully their baby brothers above ground not in arms are not then motivated to continue the fight. But then that will be Bibiās successorās problem. Revenge of a brothers death can be forever lasting.

In order for me to share your optimism that the previous administration ālearned somethingā from the Afghanistan debacle I would have had to see one of the following:
any kind of admission at all from anyone within the administration that what occurred was anything other than (according to only them) a resounding success and/or
any kind of discipline handed out to anyone in the administration who was involved in the plan
having seen neither I fail to see how you can be hopeful that something was learned. But again, this is a theme and it extends to the supporters of this political bent (or should I say simply the anti MAGA crowd). Failure to just admit, even a little bit, that mistakes were made and instead twist themselves into pretzels trying to sweep it under the rug
