Using a new crack pipe and can’t make it work! Trying to inflate tubulars on my new H3s for the first time and I can get up to about 80 psi and then I think I lose air around the seal b/w the pipe and the pump hose adaptor. I tried to hold the pipe tight and had my wife pump, still couldn’t make it work!
Do I need a specific floor pump to correctly seal with a crack pipe? I’m currently using a '03 Joe Blow.
(no need for crack and blow jokes here, these have long ago been overdone!)

I was going to but ill be nice to you, just get some teflon tape at home depot and wrap it around the crack pipe end that connects to your hose and you should be fine, sounds like your O-ring in your pump may be worn, take it to a bike shop and test it.
I have the same pump and do not have problems. It really is a two person job though. Are your jamming the pipe into the head as far as it will go and then flipping the lever?
Be careful if you try to pump it up by yourself. Make sure you put your hand centered over the cylinder of your pump. I bent my pump by putting my hand on one side while pumping up my disk. Performance Bikes are great, they took it back and gave me a new one.
I pushed it in with all the muscle I got and switched the lever… The pump is only a year old. But it’s definately losing the air at the seal b/w pipe and tube adaptor. Teflon tape next on the shopping list I guess! Thanks!
The best remidy is to buy a silca floor pump, one of the best lasting pumps around, cut off the normal adapters, and then jubilee clip the crack pipe onto the freshly cut tube, works great, although you still need another person there to pump the tyre above 140
.
I have a very old (14 years) Silca pump. Years ago I removed the original pump head and replaced it with the crack pipe style. The crack pipe can be used on ANY wheel. I can pump all my tires to over 170psi as a ONE man job. One hand on the crack pipe and one hand centered on the pump handle. Be sure you are pressing straight down, with your body as well as your arm, on the pump handle and you’ll be able to get any psi you wish (you’ll need to use body weight to do this, not just your arm).
I’m not trying to be an ass…but I’ve found most of the time, it’s the pipe to valve connection. You need to FIRMLY push the pipe onto the value. Put your palm on the tire and forefinger on the pipe and do some wrist crunches.
