Trizilla in Pittsburgh closed?

I’ve seen Trizilla in Pittsburgh recommended highly by various sources so I was going to check it out, but when I went to the Trizilla website it says “This store has been temporarily closed.” I have no idea how long ago this happened, but I was wondering if anybody knew anything about it. Was this a recent closure? Is it really temporary, and, if so, when will they be open again? What other stores in the Pittsburgh (and south) area are good? Thanks for the help!

They’re out of business. Happened a couple of months ago. They won’t be back.

Are you looking for a bike shop or a tri shop? There are great bike shops in the area. Not really any tri shops though.

Big Bang Bicycles. Big Cervelo dealer. Also Scott, Pinarello, Wiliers, Look, some Trek, so they have a wide range of choice. Count on Glenn to find you what you need at a good price. They are also expanding their tri offering, I know for a fact they have plenty of TT bikes on the floor for you to take on a spin!

Thanks for the responses. Bummer to hear about Trizilla not making it. I’m looking for tri stuff, not just a regular bike shop. I’ve been in Big Bang and talked to Glenn about a Cervelo. He was really knowledgeable and they have a nice amount of bikes on the floor. I just didn’t know if there were any other options in the area.

Big Bang Bikes is a great bike shop, for sure. It’s definitely your best bet for high end TT stuff in the area.

Sure there is. I don’t remember the name of the dealer, they have one shop in Squirrel Hill and another one out in Monroeville. Felt dealer mainly, Fuji also, and they have TT bikes for you to try. I know another shop, close to the one in Monroeville, that deals Cannondale but no TT bikes. And of course there is 3 or 4 Trek stores in the area, but I haven’t seen any TT bikes there.

As you can tell I was getting my stuffs from Big Bang mainly.

Yeah, I think it’s Biketek. I was in the Squirrel Hill store talking to a Frank, I think it was, about a Felt B12 and a NOS '08 Felt B2. That was the same day I was talking to Glenn at Big Bang Cycles. Frank said Biketek also carried the Fuji line but didn’t really have any on the floor.

Alright, sounds like I’ve already found the options in the area then. I’m actually down around Morgantown and there’s virtually no tri stuff here. The shops carry Trek, Specialized, Cannondale, Giant, and Bianchi but only road and mountain stuff. I really appreciate the help.

Check out Top Gear in Wexford. I went there for a tri bike and they are building it up now. TJ, the owner, paid incredibly close attention to my needs via email (prior to my visit – it’s a haul from where I live) and then after I got to the shop. They have high end tri and road gear, lots of selection. I took in my current bike and he took a ton of measurements off of it before building up my new ride.

I was looking at a variety of shops within a couple hours driving distance from where I live. I got some response to my questions, but Top Gear was VERY responsive and accommodating! It’s worth a visit!

Ray, thanks for the heads up. I’ll definitely check them out.

Cheers.
