Trisuit for the heat

I race in a Roka Gen 1 sleeved trisuit, but being Kona Bound this year, I think the full black suit will only make me struggle more in what will already be a hot day. I just ordered and tried on a Castelli Sanremo suit in white, but the fit just didn’t work for me. Has anyone used both the Gen 1 and Gen 2 white suit from Roka, and can share whether the new suit will keep me cooler in the heat. Or any other suggestions for a new suit? I see Roka have just launched some new serperates tri kit and cycling gear, so wonder if Gen 3 could be on the way shortly.

I just used my Gen 2 suit in a “half” (of sort) last weekend. It was hot out & you still feel the heat. I think the advantage of sleeved suits comes from keeping you a tad aero without flopping material…and coverage, so you don’t burn. That said, I feel like it keeps the heat in considerably as you build up heat throughout the race. Either way, I’m not a fan of my ROKA Gen 2 suit. I have a different brand of samples being shipped to me, hoping it breaths better than the ROKA.

One last caveat, I prefer a single pull up front zip rather than the “line of the two sides and zip” style, it makes post-potty breaks easier to get zipped up. Trying to line up the 2 sides of the zipper is a PITA when you start getting blurry vision from sweat and fatigue. Just my 2 cents.

If you go ROKA, you’re going to have to size up. The size charts are basically off by 1-2 sizes. My medium fits (a bit tight), but the charts have me in a small or small tall/long.
