Triskaidekaphobia and remaphobia

September 13.

Full moon and a Friday the 13

Gonna be hell in the hospital…

My wife used to teach elementary school kids. She always swore that the kids were crazier during a full moon.

It’s true. A fill moon brings out the crazy in people

We were going to schedule a system upgrade that day but decided the more prudent move would be to postpone a week. It seems computer people are superstitious. We also never say things like it’s been a long time since there was an outage. As that just tempts fate.

Full moon is the 14th not the 13th. So your whole theory is shot to hell.

Visible full moon on the 13th and the 14th.

does the same thing happen during a new moon?
that’s an invisible full moon.

Dunno…

I’ll have to watch the next new moon.

Looks like tomorrow is the next new moon!
We’ll be expecting a report.

Perfect, I’m in the main lab tomorrow.

Bring on the weirdness.

.

Can’t report on the moon phase because everybody is in complete freak mode over the hurricane. 12 people have fallen off ladders today, one on my shift and I just got here.

The old people are feigning illness to get admitted so the ER is packed with people. Over 50 people in the ER and the waiting room has at least 10 just in a waiting status to get a room in the ER. It’s chaos.

SHIT!
gotta have a dang hurricane mess up our high level experiment.
there will be another full moon next month, and hopefully no hurricane.
stay safe!!!

again…you in lauderdale?

I had no idea that was a thing (old people faking illness to get in during extreme weather). Similar challenges with homeless people I would guess?

Good luck and stay safe.

I learn so much on here.

In droves. The physicians are put on alert to only admit those that absolutely need beds. We are limited in supplies just like everyone else. Yes, we ordered more than usual, but who knows how long roads will be blocked. How long it’ll take to get off generator power. What if the city turns off the water supply because their generators fail?

In the blood bank we have ordered twice the blood we usually keep on hand, but still cannot get enough o neg units. The supply is low now, what’s it gonna be like two, three, four days after a major storm. All those o neg patients will be getting o pos blood and building antibodies. It can be a very sticky situation.

Lets say we have 100 o pos. Two bad traumas and we are down to 20 in a matter of hours. This is not a replaceable consumable, so we have to keep the hospital open to patients that are in true need of medical attention.

The old people are scared, hell, I’m scared.
