TriRig Omega on Blue Triad?

I’m looking to save a few more watts this year and thinking of upgrading my Red front brake to the Omega. Anyone done this on a Blue Triad?

Also, anyone done a rear Omega on a Triad? The rear braking performance is pretty bad and I’d think the Omega would provide better stopping power and be more aero because there wouldn’t have to be a big curve in the brake cabling.

I’ve got the omega front and rear on my SL. Stopping power is acceptable from the rear brake - and certainly less fiddly than the stock TRP.

User Bmanners I believe has done this. From what he’s told me, the rear brake is pretty lousy in terms of stopping power, adjustability, and wheel swaps.

The Omega is really easy to adjust to accommodate different wheel widths. Paired with Kool Stop brake pads, you’ll have very good braking performance.

Thanks! What year is your SL? Mine is a 2009, but I’m assuming it’s the same setup under the BB for the brake as mine.

Paul Matthews did too, front and rear

.

Mine’s a 2012. It had the side-pull TRP rear brake, which I could never get to stay centred for any length of time.

Tririg whitepaper has it saving 2 watts / 6 seconds per 40k vs a Dura Ace brake.

I have an Omega (first generation paired with puny 3T levers) on my speed concept 7.0 and I’m not the biggest fan. I would trade it straight up for a SRAM red aero link brake without batting an eye.

For your $200 I would make sure you have a good helmet, fast tires, and latex tubes before chasing 2 watts on a brake.

Nate, why do you have a ‘‘big loop’’ in the rear brake cable? There is nothing wrong with that rear brake that proper set up and adjustment won’t fix.

Also, I have a Campagnolo center pull front brake that will give you the same aero benefit as the Tririg. It cost half of that one and I could sell it to you for half of that. Let me know.

My Kestrel 4000 has the TRP center pull brakes front and rear. They are adjusted right and just the other day I was coming down hill at about 35 mph when the light changed and I hauled it down to a stop with no problems.

I missed a Kona slot by seven seconds in my last attempt. Having an Omega over the course of an IM sounds like it would have saved me close to 30 seconds over 112 miles.

I already have a good helmet (Lazer), tires (Conti 4000s) and run latex tubes.

Well then you sound like the perfect candidate for an Omega! Pick one up.
