Has anyone else experienced this? I’ve had the brake on the bike just over 6 months and just noticed what looks like corrosion under the paint.
Disappointing for a not particularly cheap bit of kit. The rest of my bike is corrosion free…
Yep, same on mine maybe not as bad. I have the black one.
Did you contact TriRig?
This should never be a problem if your bike was cleaned regularly. I’ve had mine for close to a year now and its like the day I bought it and its got some serious mileage.
Mine looks worse, it seemed to go to hell when I put simple green on it recently to clean it. Very slight solvent that I have used on components and bikes for years, this is the only piece to show any damage. Never had an issue with parts by shimano, SRAM, cervelo, 3t, profile design, dimension, Fsa, jag wire, Raleigh, etc. only my tri rig had an issue with it.
I didn’t call tririg. I like his products but his attitude is about as bad as anyone’s I have ever encountered. With them I know, if I buy something, it is mine forever because communicating with Nick is not a very fruitful experience (in my experience, maybe he was just having a bad day the 3 or 4 times I have tried).
Main reason why I won’t buy an alpha, too much coin for this brand of customer service (especially after the annodization on the omega began to come off from the simple great).
One man’s opinion, your mileage may vary.

Sums it up perfectly. Over the last year and half the tone in his writing has become increasingly defensive and superior. There is a different vibe that readers get today from the early days of tririg.com. I applaud the company’s success and realize that it’s hard to maintain that personal touch as his audience continues to grow, but maybe it’s time that Nick hire someone with better poise to take care of the customer service aspect of the business. His skills are better aligned with engineering side of the things.
I’ve asked 2 times to see the Alpha wind tunnel results on the TriRig facebook page and was told they were coming. It’s been months. Maybe the aerobar didn’t live up to the hype?

hahahaha. Good Luck with that one…

If you think a little anondization is bad on the Omega, then thank your lucky stars you did not buy an Alpha. The clear coat pealed right off that thing before I even got it mounted on my bike. Nicks response…“put some clear nail polish on it!!!” Incredulous.

I would recommend you reach out to TriRig.

X2.
And now he goes to social media to reenforce his customer service. After having just recently posting this mini rant:
“Quick PSA - I don’t answer questions about out-of-stock product (i.e., “when is it coming back,” “can I preorder one?” or “I am super special and I’ll bet you still have some left, please sell one to me!”) – for further info, curl up with our policies and give them a read: http://www.tririg.com/policies – THANKS!”
A valiant attempt at sinking his own ship. Not only do you say out loud that you “dont answer questions about out-of-stock product” but then you post it on your own social media page. Hilarious really.

That FB post of his sealed it for me.
Seems like a lot of piling on happening here. I just wanted to add my own experience.
I purchased a first generation omega and had stripped the screw out of the wedge I contacted Nick and he sent me a new wedge free of charge no questions asked.
Oh great.
I’ve had my Omega on the bike since Jan. with maybe 8 outdoor rides but a whole bunch on the trainer. I prepped the bike for a race over the weekend and noticed the integrated brake hanger was bubbling. I always wipe down the bike after the trainer sweat fests and outdoor rides as needed, its seen rain 2x. Pretty poor environmental considerations engineering if you ask me…
Just to copy / paste TriRig’s response:
Hey everybody – in response to some comments made on Slowtwitch (where I can’t reply), I’d just like to communicate that I respond to EVERY customer service email we receive. I am happy to help, and always responsive to any problems you might have with our products. I will ALWAYS make things right - if you received something broken, or something failed prematurely, it will be replaced free of charge. For most things, I don’t even assess whether there was user error involved(exception: cracked Omega face plates). I simply replace for free (in most cases, even if your warranty is long expired), or help with troubleshooting until you’re satisfied that your purchases work as intended. ALWAYS happy to do that.
If you have any problems - just get in touch. I really appreciate all of our customers - I can’t keep everyone happy all the time, but I think we do a good job of keeping almost all of them happy, almost all of the time. **
If you ever have questions about our standard store policies, they’re linked at the top of every store page, and in the footer of every page on the site. Thanks!!
I will say this - it’s funny he brought up the cracked faceplates because I sent him the picture of my Omega where the faceplate cracked by the screw hole (this was in shipping prior to it even being installed) and he told me “It’s no big deal - it’ll be fine and work just the same. Enjoy!”
Kind of the exact opposite as to what he said on FB.
That said - I still love the brake and he was right - it’s held up without any issues after installing it that way. Just kind of shitty to get a cracked product brand new.
X3 - count me as one of the “almost” - had a bad experience with Nick over a purchase. His customer service (quite the oxymoron) is the anthesis of so many great companies in the Triathlon community. Buyer beware.
I feel the need to express my experiences with Nick. I have 3 Omega brakes, 2 Sigma stems and Gamma extensions. Everything working really well and communication with Nick has been really good. These are my experiences.
I want to respond to that post by just tagging someone like Chris or John from FLO.
Has anyone else experienced this?
I have had mine for two years and no issues. My friend too.
The thing that makes me ask questions is …. it’s not just one part of the brake, but all of it other than the faceplate. I can understand if you got one faulty piece, maybe a bad batch. But the whole brake? Makes me think there is something else at play and likely something that you had got on it.
