Are triple cranks compatible with DA 7800/7900? I was thinking of using them for a 7800/7900 set up.
Is there anything else to this other than switching out the cranks?

Aside from the fact that your front derailleur won’t be able to handle the wide range of chainrings, your shifter won’t do 3 'rings (unless you’re running bar ends). Also, it’s highly likely that your rear derailleur won’t handle the total gear range either.
It’s for a TT set up. With friction mode, this shouldn’t be a problem correct? Also, how will an extra ring affect the rear derailleur? If anything I would think that the FD wouldn’t be able to handle the range of 3 rings.
Rear derailleur also has a maximum capacity (often 28 total teeth for short cage). Long cage derailleurs have that long cage so they can wrap up more excess chain in the small/small combinations that are needed for the big/big combos.

There is, however an Ultegra 6700 triple crank and front derailleur. Don’t know about Bar end shifters
Shifters should be ok. Need 6703 FD as well.
Nuff said. There goes that option.
