Triiathlon impact on the Super Bowl?

The ultimate fantasy football dream - you’re working a regular job and you get a call, asking you to be in the super Bowl.

Eagles tight end Chad Lewis is out of the game with a foot injury - this is from the Philadelphia Daily News today, read down at the bootom, thomason says he’s in shape, having participated in triathlons!:

Jeff Thomason watched the NFC Championship Game Sunday as a retired player, 2 years removed from the fray.

Yesterday, sitting at the desk in Chesterfield, N.J., where he works as an assistant project manager for Toll Brothers construction, Thomason fielded a series of phone calls. By late afternoon, he’d agreed to return to the Eagles. Assuming he passes a physical today, Thomason will begin practicing tomorrow for the Feb. 6 Super Bowl in his old role as a reserve tight end and special-teams player.

“It’s pretty incredible,” Thomason, 35, said last night. “I’m just thrilled to be part of this whole thing.”

Many of the contractors he deals with don’t know he ever played football, Thomason said; they might be a little surprised to find out why he’s taking a couple of weeks off.

Last night, Thomason wasn’t exactly sure how the details of that hurried leave-taking were going to work out.

“I have 2 weeks vacation time,” he said. “If I have to use it for this, I will.”

He said he’s in playing shape, and has been participating in triathlons lately.

Well, he should be in better shape than most of the others and certainly should be strong in the fourth quarter!

I wonder why they didn’t call me?

Tibbs? Did they call you?

We got some Clydes here who could catch the rock and block a DE…

Good for Jeff getting my sloppy seconds ;}

I already turned the Eagles down - would have interupted my IMAZ training.

They know Tibbs is an Eagles hater!

I’m a huge Eagles fan! Very cool to have a triathelete now on board… though I seriously doubt he will have any impact, L.J. Smith will see all the passes to the TE position.

Here’s his times from 2004:

damn! he just beat me. so that was the guy who threw a shoulder block on me during the run!

at superbowl xxxv the rams held open try-outs to find a kicker. Some lucky guy got hired to play in one game. How lucky, he got a superbowl ring for having a one day nfl career.

He’s been participating in triathlons recently? In New Jersey?

We have 2 feet of snow on the ground and haven’t seen 30 degrees since November…
