Anybody familiar with/use any Trigger Point Technologies’ products? I just bought about $70 worth of their stuff–a trigger point ball, a roller, and a foam block. They come with a tape/DVD showing how to use them. Supposed to help plantar fascitis, carpal tunnel, pirifomis syndrome, and other problems. Interesting use of the foam block is to place it between your leg and the car door when you drive. Supposedly rolling your left leg outward toward the door when you drive is a source of many bad things. They claim 98% of all leg problems are in the left leg.
I have met the people who invented the product and they are very knowledgeable. I was also fortunate to learn how to use the products with a demonstration. I used to have major calf cramps after runs and the roller really helps. There are a lot of others that I have talked to who swear by the balls. (Plus the slogan of “Have You Seen My Balls” turns a lot of heads)
I’ve been using the set for my Achilles tendonitis for about six months now. I can honestly say that it, along with the Achilles strengthening protocol on Gordo Byrn’s Website, is what’s enabling me to run. Prior to the massage ball & roller, I’d been battling severe AT for two plus years. I’d been to several sports docs and physical therapists (including Olympic marathoner Bob Kempanin’s (sp?) PT), and a sports chiropractor, none of which completely helped me. The next step was surgery, which I didn’t want…
I bought their complete kit (ball, and 2 rollers, foam block) a couple of months ago. I 've had some good results. I did not buy the block that you use for driving.
Interesting thing is all my problems are with the right leg…I have to be a nonconformist and go with the 2%.
Started using it a couple months ago. When I started it hurt to lay my calf on the roller. Now I can have a normal roller session and feel better afterward. Seems like it is helping, but this would be hard to prove.
Have you used the driver’s block? I get crazy pain in my left hip/leg when driving for more than an hour or so. I’ll try nearly anything to fix it - short of buying a new car.
It’s working! Especially the ball on my upper hamstring and piriformis. What is good about their ball is that a tennis ball is too soft and a baseball is too hard. Not having quite as good a response on my tibialis and arch with the roller, but still working it. Pain seems to be going away some.
