I’m doing IMMT and trying to get an idea of age group times from past years. Does TriCan follow the same format for deciding your race day age that USAT follows? I.E. In Canada, if you are 29 on race day but have a birthday in September, do you race 25-29 or 30-24?
USAT says 30-34 since they calculate race age as your age on Dec 31 of the race year. What says Canada?
All Age Group athletes must compete in the Age Group division corresponding to the athlete’s age on December 31st of the year of the event.

I think that settles it, doesn’t it? It applies to me since I will be 39 on race day, but turn 40 later in the year.
Cheers!
Nice. I didn’t think (<-- the real issue) to check the IMMT website. AND, it looks like you and I are the same age/ age group. Game on.
Sorry,I was being a smart-ass and as the other poster has pointed out it is the same as the USA.
No need to apologize. I recognize smart-ass-ness when I see it. It’s just that you can’t trust the USA and Canada to agree on too much. We barely speak the same language.
But our rule book is almost a carbon copy of the ITU rules, way easier to deal with when athletes from overseas (or US athletes who have done ITU races) come here.
A big one a lot of US guys get in trouble for is regarding shirts. They must stay on and not showing any stomach or to much chest. I have even seen officials ask racers to zip up the zipper if it is really low cut. I don’t think I have ever seen a penalty given out for this usually just a verbal warning.

The Wife and I were chatting about this. Does this mean that women cannot race in their sports bra? What about just during the swim portion. I’m assuming that they can during the swim but have to cover up for the rest of the race.
Section 2.8 has the rules. But basically you need to wear a tri suit for the whole event, including the swim.
That being said, most smaller local races often allow people to swim in a bathing suit (especially for a pool swim) then put something on after they get out. That is up to the RD. Anything bigger and involving ITU officials will likely not allow it.

Game on, indeed!
You know, I used to think that my age group results would improve if I just kept at it. I figured there would be some attrition, and slowing down with age. But I don’t see that happening. Now, I have to get faster if I want my AG results to get better. Oh well.
