I did a search here on ST, but had a few other questions I was hoping some of you could answer. I seem to have a hard time getting in touch with the TBT folks by phone.
I get that the rear wheel needs to be a training wheel and that a disc needs to go into a separate wheel bag. If I am racing a Zipp 808 front, should I just leave it on the bike or also put it in a wheel bag? Only only see rear wheel info on their website.
How strict are they on the gear bag size? Their site says 18"x12"x12". That is pretty small. Anyone have any trouble using a larger bag? I am not headed back home after IMAZ and would like to jam as much as possible into the gear bag as possible
In answer to your first question I think leaving the 808 on the bike would be fine. I had them ship my bike to IM St George and it had 808’s front and back. I did not ship a gear bag. Hope that helps.
They’re not like United airlines where they are going to measure and weigh your bag. If it’s a reasonable small/medium sized duffel bag you will be fine. They’re pretty cool to work with on stuff like that.
The back wheel doesn’t necessarily have to be a training wheel- it just has to have spokes - so they can secure the bike via the wheel. That is, for example, you may want to ship your bike with 808’s on both the front & rear and your disk in the bag, in case weather conditions cause you to ditch the disk & race on your 808.
They put the bags on top of the bikes, so don’t go overboard with size or weight.

Thanks in advance.
Hi,
The 808 will be fine on the bike but feel free to put it in a wheel bag if you prefer.
Please do not too far overboard with the gear bag. The intent is for us to pack them in gaps between bikes. If the bags are too big, that becomes impossible and we risk running out of room in the trucks. If bags are unreasonably large and space is tight, our drivers may have to leave it behind at the partner shop, in which case we would contact you to let you know and refund the gear bag fee.
Thanks Marc. I dropped the bike off yesterday and put the front 808 in a wheel bag and switched to just a slightly larger bag. Certainly nothing considered “large”. A couple other bags looked even bigger so I should be safe
