I took my kids to Avon/Vail (Colorado) this past weekend to participate in the Sommer Sports Kids Tri America Series race. A lady we met at the hotel pool was watching her triathlete kids swim. Neither she nor the dad is a triathlete. So how did her kids get into this sport? Through the swim club they participate in during the summer. The recreational swimming league announced the formation of a kids’ triathlon group, and her kids signed up. Just like little league, or soccer. I had no idea such a thing existed. She was familiar with a number of similar programs around the state (but none near where we live). The next morning we saw maybe a half-dozen kids from this club, all in identical one-piece racing suits. And other similar clubs were represented there too. One of her boys won the 10-year-old male division. Another kid from that club won the 12-year-old female division, and my daughter got second. It’s great to see that there are kids’ triathlon leagues. Wow!
this is going on all over the country - saw the saem thing in OH this summer
