Triathlon bike shoe recomondation for a woman?

Looking to purchase Triathlon bike specific shoes. Appreciate any recomondations on what should be important when buying. I’m doing 3 half IM and several OLY races this year. Would like to stay with Speedplay pedals. Thanks so much!

We’ve had a lot of success with the Louis Garneau Tri X-Lite shoe - both the female and male models are very popular - lightweight and breathable.

I’m on my second pair of the Shimano TR52. One strap, super comfy, heel pull tab, versions come with or without carbon soles, depending on the price you want and/or the degree of stiffness you would like. They’re roomy enough to accommodate my orthotics, while some shoes were too shallow in the toe. A friend of mine uses them with speedplays and has no issues. www.wiggle.com often has them on sale. Good luck.

I would recommend the Specialized Shoes!

Here is the ladies versions http://www.specialized.com/us/en/ftr/shoes/womens-triathlon-shoes

but the S-Works version has worked very well for women since the heal is on the boa system so it fits all heal shapes very well.

Go try on ever pair you can get your hands on and pick.

I’m a fan of my Pearl Izumi Tri Fly shoes…

Shoe fit does depend on your foot shape. The shoe that is good for Sally might not be the best for Sue. Some shoes are narrower than others.

With that said, you want something that will cinch easily and tightly over your arch, gives you good arch support and has plenty of wiggle room in the toe box. While fit is not as critical with cycling shoes, as it is with running shoes, it is a major contact point with the bike and how you put power to the pedals so you do want to be comfortable.

All of the recommended shoes are great shoes, but you need to try them on. Most every shoe is compatible with speed play pedals - you just change the cleat base plate.

I have specialized road and tri shoes and love them. You can get different inserts to find the best one to support your arch.

Good luck shoe shopping!

Shoes brand is HIGHLY dependent on fit. Personally though, if Sidi shoes fit you, they are the highest quality I have found.
