Triathletes are wusses

i dont know if ive said this before, but was talking to some fellow triathletes, and they complain about everything (i hope no one looks up old posts and proves i do it too). Im not talking about drafting. Im talking about complaining about road conditions, “it was too rough, the roads were insane, that was horrible” and there werent even any potholes or anything, it just wasnt super smooth. People complain about run courses, “oh man, i cant believe we had to run on the grass!” no holes, just a little grass. boo-hoo. Youre a triathlete, we do it because its hard, suck it up.

I guess you are a wuss then since you are complaining about people who complain about race conditions, BUSTED.

I was thinking the same thing the other day while building fence in the West Texas 105deg weather. Triathletes are supposed to epitomize toughness in endurace sports and sport in general. I mean come on…the spirit of triathlon is embedded in Ironman and its history. Is the sport now overrun with crybabbies? Is there too many, “Ow…I have a blister” and not enough Captain Dan, “Is this the best you got?”

read this, stand in awe of some real men:

Waa Waaa Waaa! My foot hurts, its too cold, I cant ride in the rain… OOPS I just proved your point.

I just think Americans are spoiled. Dont get me wrong, I am American and I love it here, most americans are great especially here in the midwest, but we have everything way too easy. Maybe its a product of our own success? When visiting other countries it doesnt seem like they have half the convieniences that we have.

They are no different than anyone else. People in general like to bitch and moan. What’s that old saying…“a bitchin’ Army is a happy Army”

I feel this is even more evident with certain pros. I have read many race reports on xtri and other sites and many begin the same way….

“with only a 10m head start the age group men were on us in no time”

“with some travel problems we experienced. I felt pretty bad from the start of the swim”

Quietly struggling through adversity is its own reward for me (but I did not just say that)

The quotes are not meant to point to any one athlete just a sample of what I could find in 2 minutes of searching

“Things that hurt, instruct.” - Benjamin Franklin.

Ain’t no whining like Ironman whining 'cause Ironman whining don’t stop!

(sung to the tune of "Ain’t no Party like a West Coast party)

Linguists call it “ritual complaining” basically conversation filler–but you are right–it gets ridiculous.

What’s with all the hating on the triathletes these days? Roadies UNITE!!! It’s like the Kerry cussers versus the Bush bashers these days!

Who are you kidding? Cycling has an obscene amount of whiners as well… “he’s not taking his turn on the front”… “he took my line going into corner” Sniff, sniff, whaaaa!

I’m foolish for taking the bait on this one but let me end with this point. I play hockey on a weekly basis which is generally considered a very tough sport… There is one guy who plays that is bigger crybaby than any triathlete or roadie that i’ve ever met… Face it, they’re everywhere!!!

Here’s some advice… They’re are some great people in cycling and triathlon. Ignore the crybabies and you’ll truly appreciate how great your sport is.

I was rather upset recently when my personal transition valet, Jenkins, inflated my rear tire to 118 lbs instead of 120.

Fired that incompetent fool right on the spot!

That is why I likes the Xterra. No one complains about much. Holes the size of cars? No problem. Had to wear gloves on the run? It’s Xterra. Riding through rocks the size of volleyballs? Try not to hit too many of those. Four flats today, damn those thorns anyway. That is what I’m talking about. G

Right on **G-man **…

I was reading about someone who was complaining about the disney half and running in sand. It’s a good thing they didn’t do the xtreme desert xterra tri… There were several sections on the bike course where you had to run through the sand…

It’s only the male triathletes that whine. Tri chicks are tough.

IMO runners are the BIGGEST whiners. always have some “injury” and never happy with their times.
