TriAll3Sports Clamshell VeloSafe

Anyone else had problems with this case?

I bought one before IMMoo last year, and have used it to ship my bike exactly twice (2 ways each time), once to Moo and once to St. Louis for HalfMax this year. When it arrived back home last week from St. Louis, one of the clamps was hanging off the end of the case by one bolt… the other bolts having snapped; and the case was ajar. Thank God for the 3 straps, or I’d have lost the whole damn thing.

I won’t go into the @#$%!# bike shop that decided to pack the bike without putting any of the loose parts in a bag… or, for that matter, didn’t put the dropout spacers into the dropouts (I’m damn lucky my fork and rear dropouts weren’t bent… f*ckers!).

Anyway, I digress… Fortunately, the only thing I lost was one spring from my Zipp titanium skewers. I can live with that. But is it normal for a case to fall apart like that when it hasn’t been shipped more often? I haven’t called All3Sports, yet, but I was wondering if anyone has dealt with the customer service on this type of issue. Their warranty covers “workmanship and material,” but not “damage incurred during use.” Well… this has to do with the failure of the materials and workmanship… but it occurred during use. Anyone deal with this problem before?

Not exactly the same case, but this will shed some light on how cases get treated and the damage that my TriAll3 suffered. I won’t ship again. The last paragraph describes the shape my case was in when it was returned to my house.

PM me if you want to discuss further.

When you say shipped, do you mean by UPS/Fedex or on an airline? Either way they are going to take some abuse. The latches are the first thing to go since they protrude from the case, but that is why TriAll3 puts straps on also. I had a VeloSafe case severely damaged by the airlines a while back, and TriAll3 repaired it (replaced the actual ABS case) at no cost. They have also shipped out new latches and rivets for me to do my own repairs at no cost. I have been quite impressed with their customer service.

Yes. Shipped UPS. I know UPS insurance doesn’t cover the case… but I jsut can’t believe that TWO shippings cause the latch bolts to snap off!

UPDATE:

Just talked to TriAll3Sports. They’re sending a new latch. Should be here early next week.

Thanks, Triall3Sports!
