Imho, you will have no problem recovering from the half mary. But with a half ironman and the training required to participate in that, it will be difficult to get enough specific run training in. Again, recovering in time should not normally be a problem

I feel ya. The answer is NO. Do it anyway.

I’ve committed myself to 1/2 marathon this month, 1/2 IM next, & marathon in NOV.

Yes, you can do both.

I’d set up your running program for the half mary using the FIRST program or Hudson where you focus on three tough run workouts a week, and sprinkle in swim and bike training in the open dates. If you run intervals, tempo and long, you will get in good shape for the half mary, and you can still swim and bike 3 x a week in order to complete the half iron.

Then on race day at the half iron, I’d do it just for fun, pacing well on the swim and bike and see how close you can come to your half mary pace during the run.

You should only need a few days to recover from a half marathon and then you will have 25 days or so before your half mary. That is still probably enough time to sharpen the pace even more for about 15 days, and allow for a gradual taper over the final 7-10 days.
