Tri Tats

During my years participating in multisport, I have seen some awesome tattoos. I have also seen some very lame ink work.

My question is,

        Do you have tats?

If so, please describe the graphic(s) and where it is on your body

Pics would be great if you have em and only if rated PG-13 or less.

I have three designed, though not yet on my body (very soon the first two will be). They’re not related to tris, though. Anyways, they’re part of a triptych that will be on my back. Not huge, but back of each shoulder and the third will be in the middle of my back, forming an upside-down triangle.

I always had the designs in mind, but had a friend do the drawing as I’m not much of an artist myself. One’s an adaptation of Auguste Rodin’s scultpure, “The Thinker,” the second is an adaptation of Albert Camus’ interpretation of “The Myth of Sisyphus,” and the third is a take on Ayn Rand’s cover art for “Atlas Shrugged.”

The three, when taken together, illustrate my personal belief system, and they will be put on me when I accomplish certain things in my life.

I don’t have ink done but have some firends who have some pretty cool work done (non-tri related). I always say I might get ink done when I’m drunk but I don’t think I ever will.

Funniest tattoo I have ever seen:

It said, "I love ‘woman’s name’ "(can’t remember the name) and the woman’s was literally crossed out and below it said “Bud Kegs”

Classic

Not to hijack the thread but: I was once in line behind this really overbuilt guy (the steroid type) and he was describing his new tattoo. It was a Hebrew verse from the bible. The guy was explaining that it means something about “I will cause the nations to fear you.” I happen to speak Hebrew and it wasn’t anything like that. Fortunately, it wasn’t anything offensive, but it was just some random verse that didn’t really mean anything. I debated whether to tell him and didn’t in the end.

I love tats of works of art. I’ve always thought about putting a Gustav Klimt painting on my arm but I don’t think I’ll ever do. Does anyone know if they can do gold ink?

Probably, but if you’re white it’ll most likely fade into the color of your skin over time.

Good timing

I just got a Triathlon Tattoo last night!! Got it right in the middle of the calf. Pity I do not have a camera or i would post a pic. The design for the tattoo is shown at the bottom of this page:

Cheers, Paul
P.S. I am told the tattoo will wash off in a week or so.

Tats are addicting. I love the way the needle feels

This is one of those questions that come up ever few months. There are even more threads about tattoos (though if you do a search, spell it correctly and incorrectly: tattoo/tatoo).

And yes, 2 of them. One small M-Dot with IM NZ 2001 and one that is a swimmer/biker/runner at 120 degrees to each other all sharing the same head.

I have a tattoo…it’s a globe with a peace sign on it. It’s on my lowerback. When I was on spring break–in Mexico–my freshman year of college (16 yrs ago) I saw a guy on the beach with the tattoo…I asked him about it, found out we went to college together and he got in town. So I got the tatoo that summer. I love the tattoo.

I’m considering another…an IM one…cliche I know…but I want to get a red M and an orange dot (for IMF)…just don’t know where yet. I also can’t remember the rules for swimming post tattoo…and since I’m in Hawaii now (swimming, diving and surfing a lot) it might have to wait.

Ha, I wonder if my ex boyfriend did something like that. I’m sure his wife Michelle wouldn’t appreciate looking at my name every day.

To the OP:

Yes, I have 2 (non-tri). I could tell you, but then I’d have to kill you.

Ha, I absolutely LOVE one of Henry Rollins holding the Jesus nails.

I knew an elite swimmer who had a really cool jellyfish tat that kinda floated diagonally down the front of his body and extending partially on to his back. I know it sounds lame but it really was some good inkwork.

Sweet. Anyone know her?

Come on KEJ, we’re all friends here

I think that’s my grandma but she doesn’t look like that anymore

One is behind my ear. The other is not to be seen by the general viewing public.

Behind your ear? Like where behind your ear? Is it a picture of a hearing aid?

Not on the back of my ear, behind it.

Not on the back of my ear, behind it.
I didn’t know ears had backs. like the flippy part?
