Hi Folks,
It’s time to look for new cycling shoes. I’ve been riding a pair of Sidi T1’s for quite awhile and have liked them. This time I’d like to find something drilled for Speedplay cleats. It’s a deal killer if I have to wear socks.
So far I’ve found the Sidi T3.6 for Speedplay and the Lake TX312. Are there others I’m missing? Is the fit similar for both of these? The safe answer is the probably the Sidi’s when it comes to fit.
I’m not a slave to fashion or anything, but what’s up with white shoes? It seems they won’t be white for long.
Thanks
I think the DMT Scorpious is available in Speedplay drilling. Not completely sure, and the site won’t load the Scorpious’ page right now.
Thanks Mr. Slow,
Wasn’t able to find a speedplay drilling for the Scorpious, but did find the Radial 2.0 and Libra models. I’ll add them to the list.
You can order any of Bont’s shoes in a speedplay drilling.
Thanks for the Bont info. I’ll check them out.
In this search I’ve run across this Speedplay page: http://www.speedplay.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=home.thenextstep
They mention DMT, Gaerne, Lake, Northwave, Rocket 7, and Sidi as having speedplay drilled shoes available. It also mentions a mounting system which prevents the cleat from damaging the sole of the shoe. That was new to me.
I have Sidis (Look sole) and the Lakes (Speedplay sole).
With the Lakes make sure you are comfortable with their “hi volume” fit (very different than the Sidi…great if you want to add orthotics).
TBH, most of the Speedplay-specific soles don’t lower the overall foot-to-pedal distance over a Look sole with the adapter plate; so the main advantage is range of adjustability.
Thanks TitanFlexr. I was looking for the fit comparison.
Sidi claims 4 mm less stack for the Speedplay specific soles.
