HELP! I need feedback/ recommendations for QUALITY tri shorts. Anyone have any experience with Sugoi (Velocity, Tsunami, RS models), 2XU (Elite, Endurance, or Comp), Pearl Izumi Elite, or Desoto (Forza, Forza Low Cut)? These are the models I am considering. Any others worth buying? I will be racing Sprint, Olympic, and 70.3 distances. THANKS Slowtwitch Nation!
Run like hell from 2XU, as they don’t stand up at all, and give absolutely NO support. Desoto is a great short for the money, and last a long time. The best shorts on the market you have not mentioned. Buy Kiwami. There’s even a link on the ST site, and they are the best you’ll find.
Desoto Forza.
I like mine. I have the regular cut but some of my friends like the low cut…I know not much help. Top notch shorts.
DeSoto…end of story. I really really like Assos also…but for the price…um, DeSoto…
X1 DeSoto

DeSoto is good, but you should at least look at Oomph shorts, they are my favorite. Both are far above Pearl Izumi.
Oomph Vigor is my first choice
Sugoi Piston second
Desoto Forza is a close third

I have a pair of these and really like them. You can’t beat the price.
i suggest taking a look at Titan Wear.
if you don’t find the right length or whatever you are are looking for on the site…talk with, or message Jason. hell set you up right.
Check out the zoot ultra shorts. Best quality I’ve tried yet.
I like Louis Garneau and Speedo.
Ive used Kiwami A-Shorts for Olympic, 70.3 and Ironman. Decent shorts real durable and light. Get rid of water quickly.
Check out the Oomph compression shorts.

I have a pair 2XU Elite and I used it for a sprint, oly, half, and IM last year.
I love my tri shorts and cannot tell that they have been used at all.
The you were lucky. Many on our team experienced terrible fraying and wear after as little as 3 washings. They’re way too expensive to have such issues.
I have had that experience with Descente tri shorts. I think after the first tri I did they started to wear in the upper thigh area. Their cycling clothes are much better except for the tags on the jerseys that are really annoying.
Are you looking for a race short or just shorts in general? I’ve never raced in tri shorts until last fall when I bought a pair of Pearl Izumi Tri shorts off eBay. They fit just like the other three pair of PI shorts I use except they have no padding. Since I really ride the end of the saddle tip anyway this is not an issue and they were nice for the run afterwards.

I have tried a tonne of shorts and the only ones I really liked for any period of time were the DeSoto’s. Especially with the 4 pockets built right in.
A close second would be the Oomph Compression.
Can anyone describe the Desoto pad materials, esp in the Forza models?
Looks like there are a couple of dif pads, the “Floatpad” and “Invisipad.”
Can’t tell if these things are just fleece, or more like the Oomph, or in between.
Love the Desoto tri shorts. I’ve tried a lot of them, LG, 2XU, TYR, sugoi, even Hincapie (made them for our tri team). I like the carrera tri short. Have the low cut and the normal. I really like the low cut for racing. Really well made, great durability. Last longer then any other tri short I’ve ever owned. Use them for all my long rides, 1/2 marathons, marathons, 1/2 IM and IM. My favorite shorts. Just my 2 cents.
