I have a pretty nice pair of carbon carnac tri shoes (one big velcro strap). I just bought a road bike and am going to start doing some group rides and longer tours. Is it worth the money to buy a true “road shoe” (ie sidi genius 5 carbon) with multiple straps? Does it really make a difference in your opinion?

Road shoes are, for me, more comfortable, since I can fine tune the straps so fit more snugly than a tri shoe without being too tight. I also wear a half size smaller in a tri shoe, so that they are comfortably snug without socks. But if your tri shoes are comfortable, it probably doesn’t make a difference.
save your cash. I’ve known several triathletes to win bike races in tri shoes.
No, but I like my road shoes better, i think they are a little more comfortable. I usually race Ironman with my road shoes, since a few extra seconds in transition dont really matter.
