What are the differences betwween adjusting the front and rear derailers between a Tribike and a roadie?
I have the Zinn book for road bikes and have made the adjustments on my road bike, but my new tri will need to be adjusted soon. I have DA 10 sp. Is the new Zinn Tri book worth getting if I already have his road book?
It also seems like the tri bike goes farther between adjustments, almost 500 brand new miles on the tri and almost no skipping or missed gears. Is the tri set up easier on the adjusters?
Thanks for any help
No significant differnence in setting up, adjustments. The tribike is a little easier for adjusting the front derailleur, since you don’t need to be as picky with cable tension.
The tri setup isn’t any easier on adjustments, but the mechanics may have set it up a little better in the shop when it was new.
I ran into a problem with this, but it was because I am a newbie. I was trying to adjust my front derailer from the Zinn Road manual for my tri bike by going of an index set-up, and my DA 10sp is friction. Front is friction, back is index.
I wouldn’t get the book. Suitable information is available for free on the internet at parktool.com and the technical documentation (service instruction) at bike.shimano.com
