Tri bike weight distribution

Anyone have any guidance as to what the optimal front / rear weight distribution should be?? I know that I am too front biased on my current steed. I am planning on checking the degree of bias tonight, and using that information to come up with an approximate front-center / chainstay length for my next frame.

Thanks

J

And while you guru’s are at it, how does one properly check the front/rear weight dist.?

I was going to use my bathroom scale under the front wheel while the bike is on the trainer, and also stand on the scale holding the bike. Will then have weight on front wheel divided by total weight equals percentage of weight on front wheel.

You can weigh with two bathroom scales. A bit tricky but have a friend hold the bike steady as you sit on it. He/she must be careful to not put any downward force, only hold you steady. You could even just do one wheel at a time as long as the bike is levelled flat. We used to do it this way when I raced go-carts because weight distribution was important for certain race tracks.

Haven’t got a clue what the theoretical best weight distribution for a bike is. Thought I read somewhere that it was 60/40 rear/front for a road bike but I could be wrong. If this was correct, it would probably be closer to 50/50 for a tri bike.

bump. I would love for Dan or Tom D to chime in.
