Tri Bike vs Mountain Bike

If you already had a road bike which would you get as a second bike?

i don’t understand the question.

cervelo doesn’t make a mountain bike

Race Xterras on moutain bike. Two birds, one stone!

Cervelo is all hype. It’s an American thing to have a Cervelo, I don’t live there…

If a tree falls on a badger in the forest, but no woman is there to scream, would you rather have a killdozer or a red batmobile?

When the government falls and roads fall into pot-holed, weed choked rubble, where are you going to ride a road or tri bike?

When someone asks a question and wants help would you rather be a f*****g retard and make fun of him or be helpful?

is that a rhetorical question?

btw, red batmobile for sure.

I’d be very surprised to hear that they’re on ST…

I’ll take a stab at a legit answer:
Get a mountain bike. You can always throw aerobars on a road bike to do triathlons. What’s a cheap set of clip-on aerobars? $125?
Get the mtb I say! It opens up the amount of terrain you train on. I ride my mountain bike at least 1 day a week year 'round, even during IM training.
Oh, and lighten up a bit! Once you’ve been around ST long enough, you’ll know when you post questions, you’re going to get 1 real answer for every ten smartass ones. That’s part of the fun here!

strange, its a canadian company, with carlos sastre and some british lady as its biggest sponsored stars…

hmm

man, he’s gotta be rocking a set of 135 cranks if he’s wearing those leather pants while he rides…

I’d say it depends on your goals. You can always do tris or commute on a road bike. A bit touchy if you want to MTB ride on a tri bike. I have all three, and where I once road my tri bike almost 100% of the time, I now typically split most of my riding between my MTB and my road bike.

Depending on where you live, a mtb could help you ride outside all year long. One of many pluses to the mtb!

Wow ENP, you just used two of my worst pet peeves. Calling somebody a retard and a homo is so insulting to me, and I wish people would never use those phrases. To me, those words are the same as trying to insult somebody by calling them black or jewish.

So grow up D-Bag. When you use those words, it sounds like you are about 15 years old, and even then it would not be acceptable.

Besides, what type of answer did you expect to get with such a stupid and vague question?

I luckily do not have to make this choice since I have a basement full of bikes. I would definitely say get the mtn bike though. Not only will it help break up the monotony of riding on the road all the time it will help give you better handling skills as well. And as you know most of these tri guys suck at bike handling.

x2

Belligerent and homophobic is no way to go about life.

hey, in Europe there is nothing insulting calling a person black or jewish … what’s wrong with that man ?
It’s all about the Mouth who tell the Word, or the Ear to listen it.

Btw, if I had to choose between MTB and Tri bike ? Def. the MTB … much more fun, more possibility to use it …

It completely depends. Is your focus racing triathlons or racing mtb (or Xterra)?
I ended up buying a tri bike and a mtn bike at the same time a couple of years back. I figured I’d use the mtn bike for winter training and a general variety-enhancer and got the tri bike for races.
