TRI/Bike/Run Stores in Woodley Park, DC Area

Any reccomendations for Triathlon, running, bike stores in the Woodley Park area of DC? I will be there for a conference and am looking for a pair of tri shoes and racing and cushioned running shoes. Local shops don’t carry much and tough to just buy mail order.

Thanks

Head towards Adams Morgan, just over the Ellington Bridge south of the Adams Morgan/Woodley Park Metro stop (I’m assuming your conference is in the hotel right on top of the Metro?).

For running shoes, follow Calvert st. which goes over the bridge to Columbia Rd., then turn right and head up a block. Fleet feet will be on the right side on the road. The owner, Phil Fenty, is an accomplished ultra runner and they have a good selection. You definitely need to know what you’re asking for though.

Tri stores are scarce, but there’s a decent bike shop two blocks from Fleet feet. Instead of turning right onto Columbia, turn left and head up a block. City Bikes will be right across columbia behind the small park.

They sell mostly road and mt. bikes and cater to couriers, but I just saw a C’dale tri bike in there. They also have a reputation of being arrogant, so ymmv.

There are some good bike shops in Georgetown, but there’s no Metro stop there. It’s a nice run there along a path though.

Feel free to pm me if you need any other DC info. Go for a hilly run in the zoo! Good times.

Thanks for the info. Is Tri Bonzai in Falls Chrch too far/hard to get to? Seems like they are a true tri store, and have a good selection.

Tri Bonzai would be a pretty long drive from Woodley park, so if you’re looking to make sure that you don’t get lost, stick to what’s been written above. The Georgetown area might be a good compromise though, as the Georgetown Running Company is right at 34th and M Sts., and you have three bike shops within two blocks. You stand to get solid service if you head that way, too.
