Probably not racing, but with that crowd I’ll be there to cheer/heckle/photograph/schmooz ![]()

me…took a slot to Clearwater but don’t think I’m gonna do it.
What’s the weather like in Houston that time of year? Isn’t November hurricane season?
I don’t think it’s hurricane season. My husband has checked and rechecked before he committed to coming with me. He said if it was rainy season then I was on my own!! ![]()
Woo hoo!! The party is growing…

Alright, I’ve made my decision. I’m in, too. Still moping about from a bad, bad day at IM CdA, so it’s time to set the sights on something else and get back to it.

Does anyone read the 101 forum? Honestly?
I understand why you posted this and why you posted it here. I just wonder why there is even a 101 forum. It seems like anyone has a question or statement about 101 and that want a response that put it in the regular forum.
You better be in Austin still…
I might come out and do a relay - depending on which of the 3 sports I am actually capable of doing at that point…
any thoughts on doing the 50 vs the 101? i’ve done one HIM, LOVED IT, but had my first asthma attack in years and had a horrible run (got the asthma fixed now though, much better). So I know I like the distance but I’ve never biked more than 60 miles yet. I’m a former marathoner so the run is reasonable with decent training. Go for it? Take my time and wait a year for the longer one? Any ideas? I mostly just want to be warm! Wisconsin is a cold cold place.
I’m in. The weather should be about perfect here in The Woodlands that time of year. Average highs are in the mid-70’s and average lows are in the low-50’s. The swim is in a local lake that hosts a sprint race each May. I’m betting it will be wetsuit legal. The bike course is solid and is pretty much the same roads that our local tri club rides every weekend. For southest Texas it’s considered rolling but nothing too major.
So who is confirmed?
Me … 50.5

Update?
"Dear Triathlon One O One - The Woodlands Participant,
Over the last several months, the Triathlon One O One staff has been working diligently to secure the final course layouts as well as the required permits in order to execute this event on November 11th, 2007 in The Woodlands, Texas. At this point it is becoming very clear after working closely with the various entities in the local area that it is going to be next to impossible to put on this event in The Woodlands venue.
For the last ten days, Triathlon One O One has been working feverishly to secure an alternative venue in the Houston area. Once this is complete, we will notify all the participants, partners and sponsors of the venue change and what the new course layouts will be moving forward for this 2007 event.
Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter,
Sincerely,
Triathlon One O One Staff"
We’ve been chatting about this over in the 101 forum, too…
Ah, I see that now. Sorry for causing the double post.
How folks seem to be able to continue to defend this type of leadership, just amazes me. Folks rip races for things MUCH smaller than this.
How can ST seem to be giving these folks such a free pass?

Because why?
Dave
Becasue some of us interested in races other than the world’s are hoping/rooting for another long distance series to make it. Since you’re an engineer, maybe you’ve expereinced that not everything comes out right the first time. Doesn’t mean we should write it off.
Because why? \
Because this stuff is usually behind the scenes stuff, and as a fromer RD yourself Dave, you know that it almost always gets sorted out, in private. The 101 series is under a microscope, so we get to see all the first year drama that every first year race expirences. This happened in Bradenton, and they pulled it off for the racers. If you never knew what was going on before hand, and just signed up the day before the race, it would have all seemed normal to the racers eye on race day. I’ve put on a lot of races myself, and had my share of last minute drama too. It always worked out, and there was no need to scare the participants before hand. If it is something really big and stands to be a high % of closing down your race, then you do what they did at the Halifax race. Cut it with enough time, so that people can change their plans, and offer some sort of compenstation, which they did. Course changes happen all the time, often the day before the race, so I see this change happening months out no big deal. One rolling road in Texas is pretty much like any other one…
