Thinking of making the switch to a 29er and my LBS (and team sponsor) has a couple 2011. Other than obvious needed upgrades (wheels and cranks), does anyone have one? Likes? Dislikes?
I had a 2010 and the carbon exploded just above the bottom bracket. Sent it in and less than 2 weeks later they sent me a new 2011. The 2010 had some cracking issues but Trek made some corrections and I havent seen any complaints about the 2011. 29er vs 26 is night and day. I absolutely love it and ride the hell out of it with no issues. Dump the 26 unless you are very short. Go with the 29 but stay away from the 2010 model (black and red). The 2011 is black, pearl white, with blue highlights.
thanks for the feedback. the crash replacemnet is a huge bonus. Had one other friend crush his and had a new one within 2 weeks. Looking forward to the switch from 26 to 29. hopefully it can help my results as well
Just a reminder (as if you haven’t already checked this out), Trek only deals with the original owner so if you buy a used one, they will not warranty it.
Had just called a bike shop asking about this bike before I read your post. Sounds like supply is running low on some carbon models. Currently have a Trek Fuel EX9. Love the bike, but would like to see if I’m any faster on a carbon hardtail in the 29" flavor.
