First thing I noticed was the price one point for Fuji
Second thing the components another point for Fuji.
But what about those Fuji Novatec JetFly wheels? I have never heard of that brand before… is it ok? is it good? or is it very good?
Also what crankset is best? Trek 105 or Fuji FSA Energy MegaExo?
Fuji w/ Profile Desing and Trek w/ Bontrager…
What brand is more recognize for Triathlon parts?
Trek vs Fuji
Trek is a monster one of the most biggest bicycles brand with better racing technology…
What about Fuji, I have seen and heard good comments but is it really equal or better than Trek?
Interesting things I noticed are the internal cable routing, the rear tire distance from the vertical tube and also the distance from the front tire to the diagonal tube.
Frames are both aluminum with carbon forks.
Please any advise, why sould I buy one or the other.
Have tested them? The trek is prob more aerodynamic then the Fuji, based on the ttx. The trek is also what the Timex team would get if they needed a smaller frame. I would worry to much about the parts. Yes there sexy but that doesnt mean it will make you faster. If your coming from a road bike to either of these you will get faster. Which one turns you on, which one do you want to ride? That would be the one to get. I had a equinox and loved it.
No I do not have a chance to test them, I’m Costa Rican and except for Trek or Gary Fisher any other bicycle dealer allow to test the bikes… ok Trek is one of the ones that allows a test ride but the Equinox 7 is no available here, unless you specially order it but only if you buy it
I had a Fuji Road bike it was great but I want a real Tri bike, also I have a MTB a Trek 8500 which I love… so my idea has always being of having both Tri and MTB of the same brand, either Fuji or Trek… I have to say that I like Fuji because is not a very common brand in Costa Rica but you can see all the Trek models here from the most cheap to the more expensive one…
I like more the paint work on the Equinox than in the Aloha, besides I have heard only good things about the Equinox so I think my desicion is mostly made, if I get the Equinox I will have my two Tri and MTB bikes the same brand
First thing I would look at is fit, since the Trek has a longer reach (lower stack/reach ratio) than the Fuji. Are you longer of leg or longer of torso?
Other than that, I suspect that you are splitting hairs a little on the frame quality and componentry.
FWIW, my first tri bike was a trek equinox 7, enjoyed it immensely, still serves as my training ride, but based on my read from your links, assuming it better equally well, I would probably go with the Fuji for the upgraded gruppo, and save your self the $200 for pedals.
The bonty wheels from trek are perfectly adequate, and I suspect the stock rims on the Fuji are no better or worse, and heck wheels are an easy upgrade !
Are Felts available in your area. The S32 is their aluminum and B16 is carbon, both with a great price. You may be able to find a 2009 S32 or B16 for a good price but the 2010 prices are pretty great!

I’m a average Costa Rican guy, my height is 1.70 meters, and I would say that my leg’s are longer than my torso… I need help with this, I’m a little confuse about the “reach” the lower stack/reach ratio???
also what does FWIM mean? sorry I’m not a native english speaker and my english level is about 90%

I think that with Felt Tri bikes happens the same than with Trek Tri bike and any other brand of Tri bikes, here in Costa Rica most of the triathlonists use normal road bikes, so the Tri bikes market is not interested in bringing the Tri models, except you specially order it for buying it…
I haven’t check out Felt but I’m gonna do it for sure…
Stack and Reach are measures of the relative “height” and “length” of the bike “frame”. Dan has written extensively on this topic -troll through the bike fit section of the main site and you can gather as much information as you could ever want.
The relationship between the two defines how the bike fits individuals, since we are all shaped a little differently. If you are 1.7 m tall but have a 70 cm inseam, you will fit very differently than someone who is 1.7m tall but has an 80 cm inseam ( the latter needing a longer stack for his/her longer leg, and a shorter reach to make up for shorter torso length).
You can look at the stack and reach relationships for a host of bikes in the “stack and reach tables” from the banner above. While there is certainly some “play” in the numbers depending on whether you tend to ride with a steep or shallow seat tube angle and a host of other variables - the basic stack and reach are a good place to start when trying to pick bike brands or models that will fit you.
I purchased my Felt last spring from a bike store with limited knowledge about sizing for TT bikes and no in store bikes. We worked with Felt and finally went with their recommendation about what size. They ordered the bike so I didn’t have a chance to ride it before the purchase. I’m 100% happy with the fit and the bike.
I was wary about buying a bike without getting on it prior to purchase, but it worked out great. The main reason I decided to go this way is the bike shop has been around forever, I know they are great with customer service and really want their customers to be happy with the bike purchase. I wouldn’t have done it this way if I wasn’t comfortable with the shop.
so Im 1.7 m and my inseam is 81 cm… which bike would you recommend me?
I haven’t check the tables, oohhh btw thank you very much for the explanantion it was very helpufull and I have a better understanding now.
I check out the Felt models they are very good looking bikes, I may say the paint work and stylish tubes are nicer than Trek and Fuji… I like the B16 and I really think is a great price for a full carbon frame, and components is ok to start… what do you say?
I have heard the Trek is a confortable bike and very stable, and besides that it gives you a feeling of security, I don’t know it something I read, something like if the bike has good contact with the road, I mean you feel it won’t slip…
I got a 2009 S32. I’ve ridden it on steep downhills, wet roads, etc. I’ve raced it 6 times this summer one of which was the Muncie Endurathon (70.3 distance). It was a complete downpour for 16 miles of the bike leg, at no time did I feel unsafe and I wasn’t slowing down due to the rain. I have never felt unstable on my S32.
I did consider the Trek before my purchase and I’ve tested the Equinox 7 as well. I went with the S32 over the Trek for a few reasons. I really liked the bike shop the Felt was at (life long relationship), price and the extra mile Felt went fitting me and trying to make sure I got the right bike. That said I would have had no problem purchasing the Trek, it’s a very good bike as well. When I was looking at the Trek the store seem to try and steer me to a larger bike that was in stock, and I felt I need a smaller size, so I was a little uncomfortable with the store.
Getting the right fit is most important and if your more comfortable with the Trek, for whatever the reason, then that is likely the bike for you.
that’s cool, that you did not get the bigger bike, and also because you got a good bike, with a excellent customer service which I believe is very important…
I will be reading the stack and reach articles for a more deep understanding of that, and also because I said here in Costa Rica there is no way to test a TT bike, and I do not think that even if I buy it, they will meassure me to fit me on the bike… :-S I guess that a little of bad luck…
