Hey There Slowtwitchers,
My wife and I are going to get a baby trailer for our 1 year old. Does anyone have any opinions on the Trek Trailers? Maybe the Sport GoBug or the standard GoBug?
The reason I am going with Trek is that I have won some gift cert’s to a local shop that only offers Trek, so we would like to get the trailer from that shop if possible.
Thanks in advance,
Scoogie
Hey Scoogie,
I went through this process a few years back. I searched the world over, literally, and found Charriots to be the best and most versitile - www.chariotcarriers.com
Interestingly, in the US Trek contracted w/ Charriot and just rebadged them. I just looked at the Trek site and that appears to have changed recently. I’m not sure if they produce them or just have a new supplier.
Anyway, the Charriots and fantastic. We have both a single and double. We have the trailer kit, jogging kit, and stroller kit. We really couldn’t be happy, and the kids have spent many many hours in them. Let me know if I can answer any specific Qs
Best wishes,
Being a Trek dealer I may be biased, but they are great. I have always been a fan of the Chariot brand. I find the Trek model to be very similar in parts and craftmanship, I think they are made by Chariot but I cannot confirm that.
I would recommend the deluxe model though. It gives you the jogger and trailer combo with the padded seats and harness, etc, etc. In the end after you decide to upgrade it is cheaper to go all the way.
I know kids who have tried other trailers and hated them, refusing to get in them because they are uncomfortable, even some high end ones. Have never had a child not want to get in a Gobug. They just keep yelling faster faster!!!
We do deal with other brands of trailers, but this is the one we always sell.
if you were in socal, i would sale you mine…I have the deluxe model…I like the way it hooks up to your bike via the skewer. Hardly know its there unless your climbing. I used it plenty of times with boy in tow for bike training. especially when the other parental unit is out doing her thing! Kid loved it too, for about 60 to 90 mins. I hated when he would yell at me to go faster up hills…
Are you doing the DQ tri again this year? I think you should pull the trailer to make it a little more fair for us slow people ![]()
Steve
That would be cool. My boy would love that. Pull him in the trailer then push him in the jogger…
i just spoke with the rd at DQ and he is going to allow me to use the trailer at saturday’s race…just bought my son a spiuk kronos helmet (it’s as big as he is) and a tri kit…he’s ready…watch out steve delmonte…you better bring your A game saturday.
thanks everyone for you trailer advise…i appreciate it.
