I’m planning to surprise my fiance with an entry-level road bicycle for valentine’s day. I’m currently leaning towards a 2009 trek 1.2wsd but am struggling to size her. I’m thinking she is either a 47cm or a 50cm. She is 5’ 2" tall with a 28 inch inseam.
I realize this isn’t the appropriate fit her…just look for a sizing perspective for the surprise (can always exchange the bike if it doesn’t fit). If you have any experience with trek wsd bikes I’d be appreciative of your thoughts.
I bought my wife the same bike in a 47, it is an 08. She is 5’1 and has a 27 or 28 inseam. Got it for her birthday as a surprise then had her fitted on it later, work out fine, they switched out the stem but that was it, the 50 was to big. Hope this is helpful.
Talk to your LBS and explain your situation. The shop I work at does size exchanges on bikes given as gifts all the time, especially a entry level bike like the 1.2. It shouldn’t be a problem as long as she doesn’t ride it outside.
