I would like to get one international distance race in this year and Treasure Island meshes best with my schedule. I will be living at Camp Pendleton at the time, so it will be a long drive to the race. Long enough that my wife has already said she’s not interested in hauling the 2 year-old that far in the car.
I read some comments posted here from '05 and I have some concerns re: the bike course after reading those comments. How congested does the course get? Is this race worth the drive up from San Diego?
This will be my only opportunity to race a triathlon this year. I really need to get a race in, in order to apply for a spot on a regional Navy team. If you don’t think it’s worth the drive, do you have any recommendations for another race in the area, maybe an early '08 race (March/early April)?
