Treadmills?

Any recommendations on treadmills for the home? Nordic Trac? Precor?..

Thanks!

Ed

I just finished this grind. I bought a Landice L8, an 03 model at a great discount. Comes with a transferable lifetime warranty. True also a major player, but little negotiating room with them, but they were far more ready to deal on existing 03’s.

I’ve got a Precor. The thing is like a tank, it will last for ever. It’s pretty expensive but worth it for me.

We’ve been happy with our Vision 8500.

I bought the True 540 HRC about 2 years ago, and have been very happy with it. It’s very durable, and it has a lot of HR control features, including a “HR cruise control” feature that I believe is exclusive to True. Basically, you warm up and get your HR to whatever level you want, then you hit the cruise control button and the treadmill will vary elevation and/or speed to maintain your HR at that level. It works with Polar non-coded transmitters. This treadmill was rated #1 by Runner’s World twice in a row (they do their treadmill reviews every three years.) The other thing that I really like about the True is that the rate of acceleration/deceleration is much faster than most treadmills I tried, which is great for doing intervals.

They are great, I have the Top end model with the 2.5hp motor. Great works like a charm for well over 2 years, and 2 of us use it. Sometimes back to back so it gets a good worlout. My buddy liked it so much he bought one as well and he a sub 2:50 marathoner.

I just bought a Vision Fitness 9250 (I think that’s the model). It’s getting delivered on Wednesday. I was deciding between that and the True, but I didn’t feel like I needed to pay the extra $400 for the True. The Vision model was the Best Buy in Consumer Reports. After doing some research, I think you probably want to get a model that has a welded frame, not bolted. Seems like that is what is recommended for runners. I know the Vision and the True models all have welded frames.

The Vision model I bought doesn’t have built in programs, but it has quick keys to instantly go to any speed or incline. I liked that feature better than any programs. I also didn’t want a HRM, but a slightly more expensive model does come with it.

I sell the Precor’s and Landice’s and a few others. Precor is the best running treadmill because tof the sensitive motor that it has. It has the ability to change speeds in minute ways to adjust for your running style.

Landice is the best overall treadmill!!! Has been around for over 40 years. they are family owned and operated. The best compared to any other treadmill is A LIFETIME WARRANTY on every part of the treadmill. I guarntee you that in 5-10 years the tread and deck will wear out from normal use. They also have a legacy warranty.

I sell them and use them. Call me at my store and I’ll tell you more or ship one to you. 269-381-8650 ask for Matt My store is in Michigan and I’m there 11-7 M-F and 11-5 on Sat.

I used to sell Landice, LifeFitness (both residential and commercial) and Pacemaster. I would highly recomend Ladice over the LF. Pacemaster is a nice machine if you are on a budget. I would say however, if you have the $$$ look at Woodway. That is probably one of if not THE best machine on the market… but they cost big bucks…but then again, it will probably be the last tread you will ever buy.

I did this exactly two years ago. If money is no object then with all the research I did the top of the line True is my choice hands down. Has been a top rated treadmill for many, many years. We ended up with a Vision T 9600 HRT and I love it. It has a 3 hp Baldor motor and is heavy as a tank. Have used it for 2 years now (mainly in the winter months) and have not had a lick of trouble and BTW I weigh just over 190 lbs. Vision is rated as a best buy for the money.

If I had one piece of advice it’s spend some money. I see too many people go inexpensive and have to replace it 3-5 years down the road. In the end it’s all the same. Just my two cents.

I have a Keys treadmill. I run 20-30 miles per week on it. It is a workhorse. Has won many Consumer Guide awards. I highly recommend them. Look at www.keysfitness.com and www.fitnessblowout.com. I own the Keys HR560. The warranty is unbelievable. Best fitness equipment purchase I ever made.
