I am looking for some suggestions for getting to Penticton for this year’s race. Number one limiting factor is money. What have others done in the past? I’m coming from the East Coast in the US. Flying to Seattle or Spokane and renting a car is cheaper than flying to Kelowna or Penticton, but is it just easier to land in town? I can get non stop flights to Seattle too, which is nice when traveling with expensive gear, and not have to worry about luggage getting from plane to plane.
Any thoughts?
Thanks…should have done that first, I guess.
My first IMC, I flew to Canada.
My second IMC, flew to Seattle and drove.
Liked the 2nd year much better. The drive is absolutely gorgeous, not that long (maybe 4 hours? we drove fast), and you’re right… no worries with gear.
My first year, Air Canada dented the crap out of my bike (aluminum frame), and never paid it back until my insurance company went after them for the repairs.
Thanks for the input. I have heard that the drive is pretty awesome.
Heads up, drive is more like 6 hours from Seattle: 2 hours to Vancouver, barring any chaos at the border, and 4 hours (on a good day) to Penticton. BUT totally worth doing the drive.
