Has anyone had any problems with their front derailleur twisting and not being able to shift up to the big chain ring on the Transition? It seems like the angle the cable exits the frame pulls not just down, but sideways. I’ve tried tightening the bolt, but it keeps slipping. Just curious as to whether this is a common problem.
Not me.
Not me as well. It is a weird angle for the cable though
The bolt is slipping?
I had a mo fo of a time getting it to work well. I could get it to work if I slowed my cadence way down and let up on power. (that’s from small to big ring) I am coming from ulergra sl set up on my roadie witch has GREAT shifting up from under power. I eventually switched from a sram force to Ultergra front derailleur witch IMOP is a little less flexy and shifted better while peddling. I do think that specialized could improve the tab or whatever you want to call it that attaches the front derailleur thu.
Mine is 5 days old, but I’ve run into that problem already. I thought it just needed to be adjusted after we cut the aerobars, but I’ve had problems since.
what derailleur are you running on it?
might need some adjusting.
It’s 105 on a new old-stock 2008 Comp. Hopefully just some teething issues since it’s been sitting for a while.
I was helping a friend with his new (old stock) 2008 Transition that he bought last week. The front shifting sucked, the front deraileur would move and flex alot without shifting on to the big ring. I found on other forums reports of 2008 Specialized chainrings having shifting pins that were too short and derailleur hangers that were too flexly. There were reports of Specialized replacing chainrings with ones with proper length shifting pins and deraileur brackets with ones made of Ti not Al. My friend is working with the LBS to get replacements to get shifting that does not suck. From what I read, these issues were limited to the early 2008 Transition models.
Mine is a 2009 Comp, just old stock, so its a 105 front. The bolt isn’t slipping, the derailleur just turns clockwise looking down when trying to shift up to the big ring. I work in a shop that stocks Specialized and we have had one reoccurring problem with an '09 Expert. Specialized told us they haven’t had any issues. We swapped out the derailleur to a Red one and its been working fine. Maybe this is a higher power’s way of telling me I should be riding Sram.
