I have 3 daughters, ages 17, 14, and 5 and am training for an IM (2 weeks out!). I call on my older daughters to watch the younger one a lot. So today I’m feeling guilty and decide to take my 5 year old to the track. I needed to do mile repeats. We brought a soccer ball, a jump rope, treats, water, etc. I only need an hour. I did a one mile warm up and was 2 laps into my first interval when----she had to poop! So, I had to drive her to a bathroom. . . .Needless to say my mile repeats were not very effective today!
That’s life with kids… enjoy it because as you know after a while they don’t need you to poop anymore ![]()
Logged many babyjogger miles, as well as fortunate to have a playscape same site as the track. Just like dad, I taught her very early on how to come home from a training session with only one sock.
Picture wife/mom in standing in kitchen, hands on hips, scowling at husband/dad. 3 year-old daughter grinning proudly at newly found independance from flush toilet.
Drive her to a bathroom? I’m in Shanghai with my kids, 6 and 4 for the summer while my wife is working here. I’ve since taught my son how to go “poop like a bear”. He just squats and does his thing just like the other 1/2 billion kids here. Tell your daughter to practice for a camping trip and let her drop a bomb behind a bush.
Maybe if we were in a remote area, but at the local high school track?? I’m a teacher there! The last thing I need is for someone to see my 5 year old pooping in public. I don’t think so.
