Training weekend in Lake Placid June 23rd and 24th

Hello fellows,

I am on training for my first IM and it will take place in Lake Placid, NY July 22nd. Most of the people around me here in CT have done the race and don’t want to do the driving to train there. I am looking for anyone that would be interested in going up there. I live in Glastonbury, CT …just south of Hartford. We can carpool or meet there to train. As I don’t know the place and the course it would be nice to have someone that knows.

here is my train plan for that weekend if you can join me while training it will be great also…if not…we can hang out afterwards…

Saturday: swim course. 2.4 miles.optional bike 40 miles on course easy (skip out and back), run 13.1 miles on course, no need to kill it. aim for 7:30-8:15 pace.
Sunday: Race simulator #3 112. Do bike steady to fast. Aim for less than 30 minutes of goal race pace. bricked with 5-7 mile run.

looking forward to hear from you…

cheers…Cristiano

Cristiano,

There’s a actually a training camp that weekend that a lot of people attend. I don’t know if it’s already sold out (I did it last year (although when I got there, I ended up doing totally my own thing) and the price was nominal, something like $50, just to cover the cost of gels, etc.) It’s an informal camp and a lot of NYCers usually go. http://www.firemanironman.com

Even if you don’t do the camp, there will be a lot of people riding/running the course (so maybe you can just join the group if you chose to), it’s clearly marked and even someone like me (who gets lost everywhere) had no problem riding it by myself last year for the first time. The swim course is also marked, so you can’t get lost at all. Print out the course maps from the IMLP website, and you’ll be ok.

Good luck.

Hi Cristiano,

28 members of my SW New Haven County-based club will be up in Lake Placid for our “camp” next weekend. Our plan is to ride up to two loops on Saturday (only some folks are doing an IM soon, so peoples’ mileage will vary). We’ll then hit the Lake Placid Brewing Company for burgers and beers. On Sunday we’ll swim up to two loops early morning, head back to our hotel (Lake Placid Summit, we’re taking over!) for a quick change into running clothes and then run one loop of the course. Lunch at the Adairondack Brew Pub and then head for home.

Look for a bunch of people in “Shark” gear (you can’t miss us) and please feel free to say hello…ask for Jeff.

Good training and have a great race next month!!

Im probably going to be up there doing my own thing.
