Training vacation inthe southeast?

I’m looking for ideas for a good place to go train for a week in the southeast the second week in April. Coming from the Chicago area, I just need some sunshine, wide open roads, and preferably a pool nearby. Oh and maybe some hills. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Clermont, FL. The Nat’l Training Center has a nice pool. The riding in the area is fantastic, and it’s much hillier than anyone not from Florida believes.

Perfect timing if you want to do a camp in Claremont $300 for a 1 week camp

Never did the camp but am thinking about it.

Dev these coaches are all from Canada, do you know any of them?

Sounds great! So the pool has public access? Hows traffic in the area?

Knoxville, TN- Great biking (Smoky Mtns), great greenways, road and track runs, UT Aquatic Center and the prospect of early season open H2O swims in area lakes. And yeah, we have hillls. Added bonus of really cool music scene and the Dogwood Arts Festival.

Any specific routes or areas I should look into? Any you could recommend on mapmyride?

If you don’t have a membership, it’s $15 a day for the whole training center (weights, track, pool). Any testing would obviously be extra, but they do all kinds of stuff there for triathletes. There’s not much traffic off the main road since it’s a bit out in the country. On weekend mornings, you’ll see more bikes than cars on all the roads outside of town. I used to live 1.5 hours away and would drive down for a day on the weekend about once a month just to workout.

go to www.usantc.com to see the NTC facility in Clermont, Florida. We have a sprint triathlon on April 17th at Lake Louiia State Park that you can enter. Great facility and a fantastic masters swim program. Z

The past few years we have gone down to Table Rock State Park in SC. It is about 45min from Clemson and the riding is incredible unless you don’t like climbing. You are hard pressed to find much flat. Not too much in the way of pools but we swam in the man made lake at the university. We were there last year and the water was in the high 60s the first week of April. Very cheap accomodations in the park as well.
