Training Question (7)

Just finished first Olympic. Have a Sprint in two weeks that I agreed to do with my nephew for his first Tri. I took a couple of days off after my race and have gotten a workout or two, short but pushing pace, each day since. Any trainng suggestions for the week before the race? In fact, what is “protocol” the few days before race? Rest? EZ workouts? I know I felt really fresh after I took 3 days off after race and kind of wished I had felt like that on Race Day. So, Sprint is coming up. What to do race week is the question. Thanks.

Well I don’t usually think of sprints as something to taper for, but if you are really serious about your time in the race you might take a couple of days off before the race. The two or so days before the rest days I like to do some short race pace workouts for each discipline, including OWS. I also believe in a short race pace run (10-15 min) the day before to loosen up.
