Is there a way to make TP use chrono (running) time versus total elapsed time to calculate ones average pace? I don’t see the value of average pace as such (I could leave my watch running if I did).
I really hate that aspect of TP. Would love to know if there is a fix as well.
In truth, I see no value in the summary of basic columns of TP’s (time, distance). It really all comes down to the graphs and individual intervals where pace matters.
I don’t disagree, but find it annoying and wondered if there was a solution or workaround.
Yeah, sorry I should have said, I don’t think there is. I think certain fields are “set” and I think time is one of them. Maybe Rodney from TP can help, he usually frequents this site.

Only workaround is to stop your device when you stop running. Or don’t stop running Either way it won’t really affect rTSS much, if at all. If I run 6 miles in an hour or 6 miles in 50 minutes rTSS will be close, it’s just intensity (which is calculated based on avg pace) would be different.
I just have my Garmin set to auto-pause when I stop running.
I thought we all have GPS watches. Just set it to auto pause when you go slower than 20:00/mi pace… which is just a little slower than walking.
This is not what I see. I ran 10k in 50 minutes almost spot on, but interrupted my run for about 10 minutes (with watch stopped) because two very sweet dogs were out loose & since they had on tags I stopped to call the owner & wait for them to get picked up. My exercise time says 50 minutes, but my overall pace was based on 60. Note: I download tcx file from Garmin Connect & then uploaded to TP. Not sure if that matters.

The IF will be lower for the 60 minute run but the time is longer so rTSS will be pretty darn close to a shorter run with a higher IF.
I totally get that. It just seemed odd to use 2 different timing criteria in the same report so I assumed I had missed something. I’m curious to see if power data will also be skewed because of waiting at a stop light or stopping to take a leak.
I get the same thing. If you just change the time in TP by +/- 1 sec the pace will correct itself.

The data isn’t really skewed, in fact it is more accurate. Stopping is resting. Rest has an effect that is and should be measured just as hammering it has an effect. The only thing skewed is ego =D
That really depends on the intensity and/or duration of workout & length of the break. Sometimes I’d agree, other times not so much.
I think download from GC and uploading to TP does affect that. Have you tried simply uploading from the garmin file on your computer to see?
Maybe this will convince you that something isn’t quite right.
From upload:
Duration: 0:49:55
Distance: 6.22 mi
Pace: 9.33 min/mi
Now, when I “edit” duration and enter the EXACT same duration I get:
Duration: 0:49:55
Distance: 6.22 mi
Pace: 8:02 min/mi
Does that make any sense?
The second one is correct. Why are you downloading the file from GC and not uploading the FIT file from the device? (The same file you upload to GC)
Do you mean using TP Agent? I have not tried that yet (thank you by the way). I planned to, but I also would like to keep the data in GC as well (esp if that doesn’t fix it) and wasn’t sure if TP agent would result in not allowing me to load to GC.
No I find that alters my data a little as well. I just find the file on my hard drive and up load it directly. Just click on upload. I dropped using TP Agent because it would change my cals burns especially.

Eureka!
Just started getting used to TP and was uploading some retrospective workouts from GC and Trainer Road. I used the export function in GC and choices were tcx & gpx (and I think Google Earth) . I have pulled FIT files from EDGE in the past, but 310XT requires ANT+ transfer. I assume I need to move over to TP agent for this then?
