Training movies

What are tri peoples favorite training movies?
Please recommend Dvds for inside ride/ run time.

Triplettes de belville.

and for Ironman training
the lord of the rings trilogy(something about the perserverance)

Naturally, the one I’m in! “Through the eyes of the elite”

No really, my favorite training movie is the documentary “On the ropes” about boxing. If you cant get fired up watching that, you’re dead.

Breaking Away…but I’m a bit biased b/c it was filmed in Bloomington, Indiana and is based around the Little 500.

x2 on breaking away
.

You like Gladiator movies?..Ever seen a grown man naked?

IMWC 2006…replayed, over and over and over… Then watch 07 and 08.

Sports specific you could buy 24 Solo, Off road to Athens or the Spirit of the Marathon.

Personally, I’ve always liked Vision Quest for the music!

Running the Sahara
The Distance of Truth
Running on the Sun

You think you suffer on a trainer? That’s nothing compared to what you’ll see on these films. I watch them on my treadmill.

I have overcomming (csc documentary), a sunday in hell, spirit of the marathon and they are pretty good.

Pre, American Flyers, Rocky I,II, III, or IV (I’m a sap, I know), The Distance of Truth, Remember the Titans…any TDF video.

Also, I watched the 08 Olympic Triathlon on Hulu.com while riding the trainer earlier this week. exactly 90 minutes and great coverage from Craig Hummer and Siri Lindley. Hulu has a ton of great stuff…its my new go-to for trainer workouts.

I know many other dont…but I really like What it Takes.
something about watching Peter train and live makes me feel guilty…which in turn makes me want to train more and harder.

i like What It Takes too…but I’ve seen it so many times now, I’m bored of it.

But a good movie. Showdown, also by Peter Han is good. That one is about Alan Culpepper, Meb, Dathan Ritzenheimer and Abdi Abdirahman getting ready for the 2008 x-country championships.

I’ve never been able to watch TV while on the treadmill… I just get on the thing and run…

That said one day I was at the gym and at the end of a long run on the treadmill, and Sesame Street came on. Just the sound of it made me so ridiculously happy. That is now my favorite thing to “watch” (hear).

likewise…I think Ive seen it like once every other week this winter. Thanks for the tip on the other movie.

caddyshack, duh.

Braveheart does it for me.

Thanks , I will try to see all 3 of these.
one that has not been mensioned is a Le tour movie
Called HELL ON WHEELS . A great depiction of the
hardship and honor of riding the tour and a different perspective
where it was made by a Netherlands film company.

Running the Sahara

Oh that was a great one! I had the opportunity to go to the premier in Greensboro at this tiny old school theatre, and Charlie Engle was there and spoke about the experience. It was really sweet. Plus it was free! The guy who owns the local running store there gave away a bunch of free tickets, and just about everyone I know from racing there (I grew up nearby) was in the audience. It was a really cool night.
