Training in Lexington Ky

I’ll be in Lexington several days next week. Is there anyplace to swim, run, lift weights? Lake Placid is looming. Thanks

One of the great age groupers in the history of our sport is in Lexington, Susan B. Cox, and she coaches Masters at the UK pool, Lancaster Aquatic Center. I know Susan fairly well, and I bet she would welcome you at practice. Just don’t ask me for the time and day of practice, because I don’t know. It has been a while since I have been there, so I don’t know if you can get access to weight room just by being at the pool for a Masters workout. Technically, you have to be a student or faculty to gain access to the Seaton Center, where Lancaster is.

I live in Lexington - there are many triathletes here, Susan being the most famous. PLus there’s my wife who was 4th in Honolulu.

I actually don’t swim w/ Susan anymore, doesn’t fit my schedule so I swim at one of the several YMCA’s. But the Masters practice at UK’s Lancaster aquatic center is Sundays 10am, Tues Thur 8pm, weekdays 11am and 5:30 am. Best workouts are 11am and Sunday 10am.

There are group runs Tues and Thurs at 5:30am, Sat at 6:30am, Wed at 11:30am - email me for specifics. There are others as well.

terry, send a PM to me and i’ll connect you with susan bradley-cox. i’ve told her about your message.
