Training for long course while throwing in a short

So, I’ve been invited (free entry) to the NYC Triathlon. Most of my effort has been geared towards long course training. My training plan for that particular weekend calls for a 4:30 bike w/ 30 min transition run on Saturday. (Day before NYC Tri)

Do I do that workout the day before a race, or do I take it easy and race my ass off at NYC?

How important is NYC to you? I’d say the better you want to do at NYC, the lighter you should take it the previous day. If its just a race for kicks and to practice transitions, do your normal workout and treat the race as a speed workout.
